For Couples
Couples and honeymooners looking for something that bit more special may like to consider the Chairman's Suite located on a hilltop. The most spacious of the rooms benefits from three balconies offering panoramic views over the resort.
Relax with your loved one at the relaxation points within the grounds. Hammocks hang between the swaying palm trees and love seats overlook the ocean.
Take a walk hand in hand along the sweeping stretch of white sand at sunrise.
Unwind by the pool designated for ultimate relaxation.
Enjoy a more intimate dining experience at Chef Pietro or Pineapple Grill. The latter is lit up at after dark with candle-lit tables set around the verandah.
For Solo Travellers
A daily entertainment programme offers some interesting activities so it is possible to join in the fun, keep busy and meet others should you wish.
There are several relaxation areas and a large beach should you prefer alone time and keep within your own company.
The hotel organises trips to Shirley Heights party so you can attend with familiar faces.
Entertainment at night time is low key and good to have something to watch or listen to when travelling alone. Alternatively there are large lounge chairs by the bar to curl up in with a good book and a drink.
The buffet restaurant is a great way to try a number of tasty dishes if you prefer a less formal dining experience. Tables by the edge are not overlooked offering uninterrupted views over the ocean.
Swimming Pools
Three swimming pools are dotted around the resort. One is lively at times with aqua aerobics and games taking place. It is also positioned beside a busy snack bar that serves tasty burgers and nachos.
The infinity pool is quieter and conveniently placed beside a small bar and the third pool is for complete relaxation only.
Beach
Long Bay Beach
Long Bay beach is long white stretch of powdery sand. The area is protected by a band of coral making it a great place for snorkelling. Several water hammocks float in the turquoise waters for guests' use and a beachfront water sports desk loans out paddle boards, kayaks and catamarans. It is worth waking up early to watch the sunrise from here.
Activities at Pineapple Beach Club
Organised activities run throughout the day offering something for everyone. Things to do include bean bag throwing competitions, crazy coconut bowling, beach volleyball, pool tournaments and jewellery making classes.
I highly recommend the early morning hike to Devil's Bridge, a local National Park. Devil's Bridge is a natural limestone rock formation resembling a bridge where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Caribbean Sea. Have a look at my youtube video of Devil's Bridge to see the natural blowholes and powerful, crashing waves.
Restaurants
Topaz is the main restaurant, a self-serve, International buffet facing the beach. It is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The casual restaurant is Caribbean themed on Friday nights.
Chef Pietro's is an a-la-carte restaurant specialising in Italian food. Located beside Topaz, it is popular and only open four nights a week. Pre-booking is recommended.
Pelican Snack Grill serves a range of lighter dishes, snacks and lunch such as burgers, nachos, fruit cups and pizzas. Adjacent to the main pool it is a handy spot to order, collect and eat from your sun lounger or take down to the beach.
Pineapple Grill is open four evenings a week and should be pre-booked. Food served is a mix of Caribbean fusion and International dishes.
The Outhouse is a quirky, rustic bbq shack serving local food and ribs. The views from here are stunning. Wooden plaques framing the seating areas are inscribed with previous guests' names and messages.
