Key Points

A bit about Siboney Beach Club

Siboney Beach Club reception area

Siboney Beach Club is located on the North West coast of Antigua, approximately 20 minutes drive from VC Bird International Airport. The 4* hotel is situated on one of Antigua's most popular and beautiful white sand beaches, Dickenson Bay.

Beach

The hotel is in a prime position on Dickenson Bay, one of Antigua's most popular beaches. It is renowned for its red, English telephone box nestled between palm trees that has become an instagrammable shot for those who visit.

Water is clear, shallow and warm with a designated area for safe swimming making it a great destination for families with young children, couples and solo travellers alike. Rocky areas border the swimming zone attracting a variety of tropical fish, crabs and lizards. Two floating hammocks offer ultimate relaxation. Settle with a book or perhaps a cocktail and soak up the peaceful ambience this resort has to offer.

A couple of members of staff keep an eye on guests at the beach aiming to make beach time as comfortable and relaxing as possible. They prepare loungers, serve drinks and frequently check all is well.

A few vendors wander past from time to time and may approach you but they are not pushy. They offer hair braiding, horse riding, jet skis, clothing, jewellery and fresh coconut water.

Note: There is no lifeguard on duty.

Restaurants

There are two restaurants within the grounds of Siboney Beach Club that overlook the white, sandy beach.

1. Salt Plage

Salt Plage is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. The undercover restaurant has open sides embracing diners with a cool breeze while gazing out to sea.

Breakfast is served between 7-1030am. A selection of egg dishes, pancakes, fruit and a traditional Antiguan dish of saltfish, tomatoes and plantain are available. The side order of breakfast potatoes are a must if you enjoy hash browns.

Lunch is available 12-3pm. Choose from burgers, wraps, sandwiches, meat and fish entrees. The Caesar salad is topped with salty anchovies and succulent prawns with a sprinkling of parmesan and croutons.

Of an evening, the restaurant opens from 7-10pm. Listen to the lapping of waves, swishing of palm trees and chirping crickets. Live music on Tuesdays creates a great vibe with sounds of keyboard, cello and a drum.

Thursdays an additional Caribbean tapas menu is available. Local delights of fried funghi, okra and Antiguan pepperpot soup are served alongside steel pan and keyboard performers playing well known favourite tunes. Alternatively, the regular a-la-carte menu offers plenty of fish, meat and vegetarian dishes.

Starfish Beach Bar

A popular bar to settle at with a cocktail as the sun starts to set or to get some work done with a light snack during the afternoon. Observe drinks being prepared at the counter-top bar and talk to others while reggae and afro beats play in the background. The bar is open from 11am-7pm with a daily happy hour from 4:30-6pm.

Swimming Pool

A private pool area with sun loungers, hammock, sofas and chairs is an ideal place to relax surrounded by lush greenery.

Spa

Spa

Allow yourself be pampered at the hotel spa. Ayien offers a diverse range of treatments designed to help you relax and unwind. Perhaps choose a hydrating facial or if travelling with a partner, a couples harmony massage. Ayien is meticulous in her work and I had one of the most thorough gel pedicures I have ever had. Spa treatments are an additional cost but a wonderful addition to your stay at Siboney Beach Club.

Gym

A compact, air-conditioned, on-site gym adjacent to the pool area for those who like to maintain fitness levels while away.

Mini-mart

A small mini-mart beside reception sells a few essential items - suncreams, wine, cooking oil and spices. For a bigger selection, head to one of the main supermarkets. Epicurean is a short drive away but First Choice is approximately 25 minutes walk from the property or US$10 each way by taxi. There is no pavement, just grass verges, however the road is relatively wide and quiet but not suitable for those with walking difficulties.

Recommended things to do nearby

Kon Tiki Bar

Kon Tiki Bar

A unique floating bar in the Caribbean Sea with a motor boat positioned in front of it ready to bring visitors to this lively venue for a drink. Simply wave from the shore beside Siboney Beach Club and the driver will pick you up then return you when you're ready to leave. Drinks are reasonably priced, US$6 for a pretty decent rum punch and the shuttle journey is complimentary. Take in the 360 degree sea views, dance, sing or simply sit and enjoy the strong breeze while loud music pumps through the speakers. Bring snorkelling equipment too and have a little swim around first.

Nicole's Table

Plantain chips

Nicole's Table cookery school is approximately 10 minutes by car from the resort. It offers visitors an authentic cookery experience within a Caribbean home in the hills of Cedar Valley. Join a small group of people to cook together, perhaps partake in a little rum tasting session then dine on the verandah and share stories with new friends overlooking Dickenson Bay.

The Cove at Blue Waters Resort

A superb dining choice if you wish to venture off site for a while. The taxi journey to Blue Waters is approximately 15 minutes. It is a sprawling resort of approximately 17 acres. A driver in a buggy greets you at reception and drives you through lush gardens to The Cove. The elegant dining area is filled with an array of tables with pencil thin lamps atop, overlooking the Caribbean sea.
